From music production to game audio to teaching, Alex Keller's career has spanned a wide variety of media. The work that he's done has shown an obsessive attention to quality, detail, creativity and timeliness.

Alex has been an active media professional since 1995. His work has been in the areas of

• sound design for games, film and theater
• music production
• radio production
• teaching

In addition to having run his own studio, Singular Audio, for four years, Alex has worked for Edge of Reality, Midway Studios, the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, the Art Institutes of Seattle and Austin, and Shoreline Community College. He interned at Experimental Sound Studio in Chicago, and holds a Master's Degree from St. Edward's University in Austin and a Bachelor's degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Alex doesn't like talking about himself in the third person but sometimes it's a necessary evil.

I am writing to recommend Alex Keller and describe his excellent contributions to KOOP radio. Alex has proven himself to be a qualified expert in all things audio, a capable project manager, and someone obsessed with getting all the details right the first time. Alex was invaluable in building KOOP's studios at Airport Blvd, and rebuilding them following our fire in 2008. Alex applied his knowledge of acoustics to redesign the acoustic environment of KOOP's main studio. Alex provided the technical design and worked with vendors to generate quotes and a project plan which fit within KOOP's limited budget and aggressive timeline. Alex's demonstrated his electrical skills when he designed and built KOOP's microphone installation. Through the use of excellent shielding and routing he designed a rugged system that was immune to the many hazards, rough handling, and RF sources present in a busy radio station. Alex's determination to get the job done was well illustrated after our fire in early 2008. He was among the first to take a leadership role in the recovery efforts. Alex was instrumental in attempting to retrieve evidence from burned flash memory cards to help the investigation. At KOOP, Alex has demonstrated both the skills and character that make him excel.

Alex managed recording and live sound for a concert I staged with the New Music Co-op in 2005.  The event was complicated in a number of ways.  It featured several non-traditional, sometimes unpredictable handmade instruments, along with both acoustic and amplified instrumental accompaniment and pre-recorded playback.  The arrangement and usage of these sound sources changed with each piece on the program, and our group had only one hour of setup time in the venue before our show began.  Alex was very knowledgeable and creative in handing these challenges, and with devising micing strategies that sounded great and still allowed quick set changes.  He was also relaxed and collected in a somewhat stressful concert situation, which allowed me to attend to other concert details without worrying about sound.  He helped the show run smoothly, and he solved problems I could not have handled on my own.
